The Hippie Dream
The Hippie Dream is a Woodstock-themed band that has expanded into a full classic rock variety act. It is a six-piece group including lead and rhythm guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and saxophone with male and female lead singers and three-part harmonies. The highlight is the lead vocal prowess of Michelle Thompson. Think Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Linda Ronstadt, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, The Pretenders, etc.
Tim Brickley and the Bleeding Hearts
Tim Brickley and the Bleeding Hearts are a legendary, long-running, critically-acclaimed rock and roll band from Indianapolis, IN. The Indianapolis Star calls singer/songwriter/producer Tim Brickley a “local legend” and Indy rock critic emeritus Dave Lindquist says of the band “they explode as the modern descendant of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty.” Evansville, IN New4U journalist Mark Emge says the band’s songs (cowritten by Brickley and lifetime collaborator David Rheins) “reference – but don’t rip off – the masters: Lennon/McCartney, Westerberg, Dylan.” Madison Courier music critic Charlie Rohling simply says: “magical and sublime.”
They’re the elemental rock band lineup: Tim (guitar/piano/lead vocal), with Scott Hall (lead guitar/vocals), Mark Kocher (bass/vocals), Jonathan Stombaugh (keyboards/vocals) and Brian Parsley (drums/vocals.) Fans all around the Great Midwest have come to enjoy that TB and the BH live shows are, um, predictably unpredictable. Start with the fact there are 40 or so TB/DR songs in the current rotation, and they span from the delicate zen of “Step In Peace”, to the hippie-love groove of “Got To Get Back Home”, to the fauxarena bombast of “Reckless With Love.” Then, add in that they can randomly choose from almost 200 covers spanning the entire history of rock (or sometimes you can choose, if they pass out that night’s “The List”.) Will it be an acoustic show? Loud and punky? Introspective and jammy? Depends on the night, kids. Whatever it is, we can guarantee you that it’s gonna be real. That’s how you stay plugged into the muse.
And that’s how you stay creative and committed through a lifetime of rock and roll. Besides leading an ever-shifting, continually-rocking version of the Bleeding Hearts since, 1989, Tim’s the owner of Hit City Recording, a studio/safe-space for generations of musicians and a fixture of the Indy/indie rock scene. (And the home of their new vintage record store, Different Beat Records.) He’s won an Emmy for his television scoring, wrote a song for the pivotal scene in the Major Motion Picture version of Dan Wakefield’s classic Sobro coming-of-age tale “Going All The Way.” He’s had a whole ‘nother life singing jazz for his supper in dark little dives with his Quintet. And, mostly with late great theatre producer/director /legend Bryan Fonseca, has collaborated on over 100 theatre productions with the Phoenix and Fonseca Theatres, including the musical “Pure Prine” (called a “winning combination” by the Chicago Sun-Times) and the original musical “The Zippers Of Zoomerville.”

Kenny Phelps Trio
Kenny Phelps cut his musical teeth in church, enlivening worship services and later touring with gospel groups as a drummer. A self-taught percussionist, Phelps developed his jazz knowledge and experience in the 1990s through the mentoring assistance of bassist Frank Smith and pianist Steve Allee.
Beginning in 2004, Phelps has been aligned with the American Pianists Association and played in the rhythm section for the Premier Series and Finals of their prestigious Jazz Awards. This early association with APA and introduction to guest performer, Dee Dee Bridgewater, in 2011 led to Phelps being hired to tour with Dee Dee internationally for six years.
His twenty-five years of playing experience has involved performances with Wynton Marsalis, Eartha Kitt, Michael Brecker, Slide Hampton, Wycliffe Gordon, Chuchito Valdes, and the New York Voices. Other Indianapolis and Midwest-based performers with whom Kenny has worked and recorded include the Debarge Family, Rob Dixon, Pharez Whitted, Fareed Haque, Derrick Gardner and Melvin Rhyne. Starting in 2009, he was active in a family fusion band, Hananeel, with his brother, a nephew and others.
In 2011, Kenny purchased Owl Music Group, an outgrowth of Owl Records, a local jazz label. A year later, he became Owl’s CEO, turning the company into a humanitarian arts organization reaching out to young musicians and community organizations such as the Julian Center and the Wheeler Mission Ministries. The Community Outreach arm brings music to these agencies and supplements the concerts with served meals. The Beyond the stage program is devoted to enriching the lives of youth through music education, engagement, and entertainment. In collaboration with public-school systems, it provides mentoring and direction to aspiring instrumentalists and singers considering music as a career. Since 2002, Phelps has been the host of the “Smooth Jazz Show” on WICR 88.7 FM for the University of Indianapolis.
A Touch of ‘Grass
A Touch of ‘Grass has been performing in and around the Midwest for over 20 years. The group was formed by Pat Brunner.

This line-up of players make up the core of A Touch of ‘Grass. Other talented musicians often rotate in and out of the Touch a Grass with the group performing most weekends in Indiana.
Phone Club
The Phone Club is a six-piece pop/rock cover band playing a grab bag of fun, surprising, and sometimes confusing selection of songs from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s, ’10s and ’20s.
The band’s been playing together since 2011 (where does the time go) playing local festivals like CarmelFest, Westfield Rocks the 4th, and the Carmel International Arts Festival in addition to breweries, restaurants, private parties, charity events, and even the occasional company picnic or family reunion.
Phone Club has played at the Palladium, Lucas Oil Stadium, Phoenix Theater, by lakes, on golf courses, in garages, at art galleries, in cow pastures, around campfires, and just about anywhere else you can think of. Their goal is to put on fun shows that have a little something for everyone.
